No, one who is dead in the spirit cannot worship God in spirit and in truth for sure and many are going to churches and not being a true part of a church because of this. They treat their churches like social clubs and this is very wrong. Jesus said, ';My house shall be a house of prayer.'; He also said, ';The father seeks those who worship in spirit and in truth'; (John 4)

23But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
