How to install intltool in Ubuntu?

I keep getting an error everytime I try to install version 0.35.5 I'm a total noob at linux so I don't know how to change the permissions so that it will install.

This is the error I get:

test -z ';/usr/local/share/man/man8'; || mkdir -p -- ';/usr/local/share/man/man8';

How are you trying to install this?

Is it a .tar.gz package? A Debian package? Through synaptic? Through the software center?

If you are using terminal to install it, are you using ';sudo'; so you are executing the commands as root?

More information is needed before we can really help you out...
